Open PhD positions in ICT at the University of L’Aquila – cycle XLI – a.y. 25/26

The PhD Program in ICT at the University of L’Aquila offers 13 scholarships in the context of a graduate school of excellence around the major topics in Information and Communication Technology.
The available grants are as follows:
- 6 grants funded by the University of L’Aquila on all research topics treated in the PhD Program in ICT
- 5 thematic grants in collaboration with the Abruzzo Region (FSE+ ABRUZZO – 2021/2027) (see details below)
- 1 grant funded by the EU project MOSAICO – Management, Orchestration and Supervision of AI-agent Communities
- 1 grant funded by the National Institute for Astrophysics
The program is open to national and international students. The goal of the PhD Program is to provide a flexible and stimulating environment for enabling effective connection/integration between academic curricula and industry needs.
The 5 grants in collaboration with the Abruzzo Region (FSE+ ABRUZZO – 2021/2027) aim at carrying out research concerning:
- System-level design methodologies for real-time embedded applications on heterogeneous reconfigurable parallel platforms – Referring Professors: Prof. T. Di Mascio, Prof. L. Pomante
- System for collecting and analyzing data from a video surveillance network of municipalities in the
2009 earthquake crater area, aimed at designing a Smart Urban Living system. Referring Professors: Prof. A. Di Marco - Design and Development of Smart Environments for the Enhancement of Cultural Heritage through Gamification and Augmented Reality. Referring Professor: Prof. H. Muccini
- Agile and Motivational Software Systems for Sustainable Mobility: Microservices and Gamification Serving Citizens and Businesses. Referring Professors: Prof. M. Autili, Prof. A. Bucchiarone
- Study of Architectures and Protocols for Vehicular Networks in the Context of CCAM (Cooperative,
Connected and Automated Mobility). Referring Professors: Prof. F. Santucci

This wide combination of topics stems from the richness of research interests of faculty members in our department, in the Center of Excellence DEWS, and in the Center of Excellence EX_EMERGE, which combine Information Engineering, Computer Science, and Mathematics.
Our PhD program in ICT also offers opportunities to spend training periods in world-wide renowned schools having a formal institutional agreement with the University of l’Aquila, such as: University of California at Berkeley, University of California at Los Angeles, Swedish Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), ETH Zurich, University College London, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Cambridge, Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, University of Tabriz, Tianjin University, and Harbin Institute of Technology e University of Wuhan.
Our PhD students will also enjoy a wide choice of courses and a rich schedule of seminars held by scientists of international reputation.
