AulaLayer project wins first prize at StartCup Abruzzo 2026

The PhD Program in Information and Communication Technology at the University of L’Aquila proudly celebrates the achievement of PhD student Valentino Giona, who was awarded first place at the StartCup Abruzzo 2026 competition with the project AulaLayer.

Held at the Aurum in Pescara, the regional finals brought together ten competing teams pitching technology-driven solutions with strong entrepreneurial potential. AulaLayer earned top honors for its innovative approach to digital education, presenting a dedicated platform for educators that leverages generative artificial intelligence to design adaptive learning pathways. Designed to address diverse student needs while keeping data processing securely within institutional boundaries, the platform streamlines instructional design while maintaining teacher oversight and pedagogical control.

Alongside the 10,000 euro first-place prize, the project secured a spot in the national finals at the National Innovation Award (Premio Nazionale per l’Innovazione – PNI 2026), scheduled for December 3-4 in Bari, as well as an invitation to the Visionaria 2026 event in Pescara.

The entire PhD in ICT community extends its congratulations to Valentino and wishes him continued success on the national stage.
